What is an Infrared Sauna?
Infrared ray is what makes you feel warm when you are in the sun. An Infrared Sauna will heat your body rather than heating the air like a traditional sauna. This means it a perfectly safe and is a more comfortable heat. You will still have your core body temperature raised to experience benefits, but you will not feel the discomfort of hot air, breathing or on your skin. The Infrared Sauna is also much more energy efficient making it better for the environment.
Why should I use an Infrared Sauna?
There is a whole host of benefits from the use of Sauna (controlled heat stress). One of the most obvious is how the body acts to naturally try and cool itself. through perspiration. The whole process of absorbing water through the gut, filtering through the body and then sweated out through the skin is accelerated when in the sauna. Over time your body will build more adaptations to the heat making your whole system more resilient, especially your cardiovascular system.
Interestingly the “health benefits” from exercise are the same as use of sauna. This means that regular sauna is a great way to enhance your health (You still need to exercise to build fitness and strength).
Benefits of Sauna use can include:
- Increased Cardiovascular Health
- Reduce blood pressure
- Reduce blood lipid profiles
- Reduced Inflammation
- Enhance Nervous System health
- Increase/Enhance mood
- Increase mental focus and attention span
- Detoxification. (including heavy metals)
How often should I go?
Sauna is best used on a regular basis. Similar to exercise benefits are are compounded on previous gains. Therefore weekly or fortnightly is ideal. The use of Sauna is an excellent complement to your self and health care routine.
